Tonight was legs. I think I've learned a little lesson---FIND ANOTHER NIGHT TO DO CARDIO. Why? Because HIIT is very leg intensive & it might be too much right now. Again, why? Because I was doing Alwyn's weenie workouts that didn't have as much leg work & right now I'm still trying to find that happy place for my legs.
I was able to increase my weights on a couple of exercises & did get in a full 30 min HIIT workout (5/20/5).
I did manage to maintain my weight despite eating way too poorly while away. Fried food & way too much & too much alcohol. Mojitos & sangria--which you just have to have when you are in the land of the Cubans. Okay so maybe you don't HAVE to have them but I couldn't resist. I'm quite pleased with that. And my body didn't completely freak out this trip; no unusual swelling. I attribute that to being more aware of how much water I was drinking. I managed to get a full gallon in every single day. How about that!
As I said, tonight was legs. 4x10
Squats: 65 lbs
Walking lunges: 5 lbs
Deadlifts: 40 lbs
Step-ups: 8 lbs
I feel pretty good about the increases. I'm going to add 5 lbs to the squats next week. I MUST get my ass to the Ft Dix gym on Friday & do the functional fitness workout that Wendy gave me. I just haven't done it. I'm a big slacker.
I did start keeping a food journal today. I am not using fitday yet. I just don't have all that much time for it. I know, I know. I need to make the time if I'm going to learn anything & hit macros when Wendy starts throwing those at me (which I suspect is coming in next months training package). I hope to be losing weight by then.
Here's a bit of GREAT news (for me anyway). John doesn't have to go back to Walter Reed next week. His boss gave him a project to do here -- that actually turned out to belong to someone else -- but told John to tell the lead at WR that he can't go back. Our lives get to go back to normal!!! I'm so glad.
Remember Nurse Ratchet? This morning Tracy tells me that she got a visit from Major Myers (Nurse Ratchet's supervisor & our nurse manager) asking if we have a case that I can give to her to see how she does. Tracy said later that afternoon she got a call from the company that they are contracted to us through (they are contracted through the same company) asking a bunch of vague questions about our policies and procedures. Tracy put 2 & 2 together to speculate that Nurse Ratchet is telling the company some BS about the clinic not treating her appropriately & did tell them that Nurse R needs to stop whining (my words not hers).
I got a call from my Chief of Medical Staff this afternoon asking me to give Nurse R a case to work; getting consult notes on & to give her a deadline. I'm guessing they think she won't be able to handle things. She hasn't gotten all of her systems up & running yet & she's had all of her security clearances & computer access for more than a week. She doesn't take initiative to do anything & I think people are tired of holding her hand.
Sadly, she's not young. She's just EXTREMELY immature & has ZERO initiative. I don't want to deal with this. Yet I need this individual to succeed because her success will directly impact my workload--making it lighter. If she fails, truly it's not a big deal because Tracy & I are getting a system working that is getting the job done in a timely manner. It would just be nice to have some of the burden lifted--allowing us to work on other projects that I'd like to start on. Whatev.
Nurse R is in orientation for the next 2 days. I meet with her & Major Myers on Friday to discuss what I see her role as in my process & to give her the case to work. I'll keep you posted.
