HOLY MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS NUTRITIOUS!

I just made apple chicken casserole from Gourmet Nutrition. It was INCREDIBLE!

I want to apologize to all of you for my post yesterday. It wasn't necessary & that's why I deleted it as soon as I got home from work. I was pissed off & tired of dealing with stuff. I was constantly having to defend my lack of attention. When I found yet another email (3 in less than 24 hours) at my office I came unhinged. I do not apologize for what I said to the individual. I do pity her & quite frankly frightens me a little.

Anyway...

My workouts are going well & I am losing weight. I'm very motivated with the daily requirements to log in & track my workouts. There's no feedback but seeing the check marks on the calendar is a classic reward system that apparently works for me.

We've made a decision to sell the house; downsize both our home & our mortgage. John will be 55 in less than 6 months so we're going to move into an age 55 & up community. We have our eyes set on a community about 20 minutes from the shore. Homes are selling for about $150k over there.

If we are able to sell our home & find a home over there our mortgage will be low enough that we will be able to pay the mortgage with my salary alone. John will quit his job & take a part-time job somewhere.

We are going to spend the weekend cleaning our garage & getting the house ready to sell.

For the first time in a long, long time my mind is at peace.

YAY for a peaceful mind! That sounds like a great plan! How is the real estate market there...ie, do you know what average time on the market is? I only ask, because I'm curious compared to here. We still seem to be in a slump, but you've got WAY more young families over there. Your home is beautiful, and I just see the young parents excited by all the room!

YAY! for results of your hard work, too. :)

We haven't really been paying much attention to the market but I suspect it's still pretty slow. We have houses in our neighborhood that have just gone for sale within the last 2 months. We aren't even hoping to make any money. Just get out. We aren't going to be able to offer closing costs & there are a couple of cosmetic things that need to be done (our bay window has lost it's seal & isn't Anderson) that we aren't going to fix (condition of sale).

I was just looking at houses in Toms River & found this http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/48-Narberth-Way_Berkeley_NJ_08757_1118486400

I love the corner lot & the fact that it has what appears to be a small dog run. The kitchen needs updating but for $150k we can do that.

I'm so glad I joined the LEP this time around because it really seems to be the accountability I needed. I just need to maintain it after January.

Good job on the weight loss and sticking to program!

That house is cute! You are right about the kitchen. Isn't it funny how something can scream "THE NINETIES!" They really weren't that long ago. You would think it wouldn't seem so outdated. I think downsizing and having a less stressful life is a really good plan. Good luck selling your house and making it all happen.

Yay for a peaceful mind! And double yay for downsizing!! There are times I miss having a larger home, such as when family is visiting. But for the most part I love having fewer rooms to clean and less stuff generally. Newer construction is awesome too because there's so much less maintenance to be done!

PS I need to try more of the GN recipes. I admit the stupendous calorie counts are offputting, but if I downsize the portions it should be okay. That chicken dish, for instance has 658 calories and 81 grams of protein per serving, and I'm sorry but even for someone JB's size that just seems like too damn much, at least on a fat loss plan that calls for 5-6 meals a day. That was one thing I liked about Eating for Life: there was never any doubt about how to adjust portion sizes to suit your own personal needs.

I cut those portion sizes by 1/4. There is no way that even 1/2 a portion size is right for me. One of the recipes calls for 1 lb of hamburger & says it makes 2 servings. So not eating 1/2 lb of hamburger!
