my first entry from my LE journal

I’ve started my journal on the LE site.  I thought I would share with you what I’ve said…

I've got a private blog that I have opened to some very special women.  One has done the Lean Eating Program--I believe she was in the first round that was separated out for women & men. Nearly two years later she is still using the principles she learned & still looks FABULOUS! These women have supported me through good times in my day-to-day life & my fitness struggles.

I've been thinking about starting a separate public blog that would be titled the above.  This is better.  This way I can speak more openly about the program & how I'm doing with it.

Here's a little background on me…

I’m 46 years old, married for 25 years to the best guy in the world!  He supports everything positive that I want to do.  He didn’t hesitate when I asked him if I could spend $700 over the next 6 months to do this; that’s how great he is!  I currently weight 15 to 20 lbs more than I think I want to weigh.  I have struggled with my weight on & off since having my daughter 25 years ago.

I have been an avid exercise enthusiast for years.  In 2007 I did a sprint triathlon & felt more fit than I had ever felt.  Yet when I look at the pictures I see a fit fat girl.  I weighed 144 lbs but had ZERO muscle definition.  I didn’t know how to achieve that.

In 2009 I began working with a personal trainer via telephone & email but didn’t stick to the nutrition plan she provided for me.  It was easy—she laid out my portion sizes & gave me options but it felt very restricting.  I got down to 144 but the second I stopped following her program began to balloon back up to 160.  My fault not hers.  I didn’t have a plan for maintenance.

The workouts she gave me rocked!  When I got the weight down I had the definition I was (& am) looking for. I <3 her!  She taught me so much about exercise.

Oh & by the way, I had bought & returned PN in 2007.  I bought it again in January 2010 & have been learning the John Berardi way.

When I got the email that the Lean Eating program was taking off again this month I hesitated.  Hemmed & hawed.  For about 30 minutes.  Then I emailed my husband to get permission to spend the money.  After signing up I got so excited I could hardly wait to get started & have been 99% compliant with PN since—I can’t stand coffee without milk & I gotta have my coffee (this one is going to bite me in the compliance arena).  I’m down 4 lbs in 2 weeks!!!

I’m probably the odd ball out here because I am actually looking forward to taking my measurements & taking pictures tomorrow.  I hear you all groaning…Remember what Krista said?  We can only get better.  That’s how I’m tackling this.  I’ve seen firsthand what can happen if I’m compliant (refer to paragraph 1).

These workouts are kicking my tail!  I have been lifting heavy for a little over a year but know that when starting any new program I need to step back a bit…I have. A lot.  HOLY MOLY!  I am really feeling the DOMS & loving every minute of it.

I am determined that I will not blow this but will absorb every lesson & habit & be riptshizzled by the time the holidays roll around.

Go Deb! It is going to be so much fun to watch you progress through this! I love "riptshizzled". It might be the best word ever.
