trying to have a better attitude

Today was leg day.  HEAVY legs.  All 4x10.

Squats: 105 lbs

Walking lunges: 25 lbs

Romanian deadlifts: 95 lbs

Step-ups: 25 lbs (1 set)/20 lbs (3 sets)

When I started I wasn’t feeling it.  I did the first set of squats with ZERO enthusiasm.  In fact, very much feeling “hung over,” from the pizza I ate last night because I had to work late & didn’t get home until 6:00 & didn’t feel like cooking.  By the middle of the second set I gave myself an attitude adjustment & finished strong.

Leanne & I walked/ran 2.4 miles.  She wants me to do more running with her because she needs to do it…I am going to go ahead & do that.  I figure if I’m not running exclusively for my cardio it can’t hurt, right?

I’m still feeling down.  I am really trying to get my head back in the game.  I think part of it is the job/commute situation with John.  I feel like we’re not seeing each other & I miss him.  I almost wish we had tried to figure out a way for him to stay down there rather than this commute.  It completely sucks.  We are really having good times over the weekend but it just doesn’t feel like enough.  We’re keeping the lines of communication open so we don’t fall back into bad habits.

On a positive note, I refinanced our loan with Toyota yesterday.  We had a 4.99% interest rate on a 72 month loan. Our bank, USAA, had a 3.98%, 5 year loan.  We are saving $45/month & going to pay the car off 6 months earlier (on paper).  I have been paying an extra & will continue to do so & in the long run will pay it off 15 months earlier.  Yee haw!

I bought the Livestrong.com app for my phone.  I am tracking my food.  I’m going to be diligent about it for a couple of days.  I’ll let you know how it goes.

Well, I can definitely relate to that. I do what John does, only I don't have a hott young wife at home making sure things are all hunky-dory when I get there, so I hope he appreciates you!

The situation is tough, and I will be honest and tell you that over time you adjust but it doesn't get any better. I know you talked about a possible relo; is that still in the cards? Also, can he rent a room while there? I can't imagine making the drive every day; I try not to do it more than three times a week and that's still a major energy suck in so many ways.

Anyway, hang in. ((hugs))

Doug had a horrendous commute when we lived in the DC 'burbs and it just about did him in.

I like the Livestrong app. I have it and it's helpful.

Tracking calories is a PITA but, honestly, it's the only way I can lose when I'm dieting for shows. It will be interesting to see what your results are. When you get scientific about it -- purely mathematical -- it's hard NOT to lose. It's not easy.

And going through the daily motions of your lifestyle can be a total drag. I love that you're giving yourself the weekends off though, so you can enjoy down time with John. That will help soooooo much!!!!

Hang in there. ITA with Marie: John is sooo lucky to have you. Right now Paul's in this work mode where he has to fly down to San Diego 1-2 times a week (long story) and it just sucks because by the time the weekend comes around all he wants to do is nap with Dino. I don't even know how long it has been since we've ... never mind. Not my blog, but I'm guessing you can relate, especially since your guy isn't a spring chicken either. Le tres grand sigh.

No real thoughts on the diet/motivation situation, other than commiseration. I'm kinda in the same place right now: trying to make myself care. Right now I don't, but I know I will when I can't fit into my Luckys any more.
