The program officially starts on Monday.  I’m to take my before pictures, weight & measurements on Saturday.  I have ordered calipers that should arrive by them—they shipped yesterday.  John & I will have to learn to use them.

Because of the requirement to workout 6 days a week I will probably join a gym because I know I’m not driving 45 minutes 1-way to work out on Saturday mornings.  The gyms in this area are primarily BIG business but there is one small facility that has been around for as long as I can remember called (get ready for it), The Firm.  When we first moved here I got all excited because I thought it was THE Firm.  lol They don’t have a website so I’m going to have to actually GO to see if I even want to talk to anyone about their membership prices.  The other options, as I said, are big business.  I don’t know that I would really have a problem with muscle heads or meat market mentality at 5:00 AM; I’ll have to try them out.

I think what I’m going to do is hit all of them up for their 1 week or 2 week pass.  Try them each out & make a decision based on comfort level, amenities, clientele, & cleanliness.  We’ve got just about every big name imaginable within 5 minutes of my house…Bally’s, Planet Fitness, Snap Fitness, 24-Hour Fitness, Future Fitness, Retro Fitness, L.A. Fitness, you name it, we’ve got it.  I might be able to get away with working out in different gyms for free for as long as 3 months.  Hmmm, makes me think.  lol

I have the workout plan for August.  It’s interesting.  It’s an upper & lower split routine—6 days a week.  I’ll do the same exercises ever other day.  It’s low sets (1 to 5) & low sets (3 to 5) with 20 to 30 second rest periods.  So I guess I’ll be going pretty heavy—we’ll see.  They won’t answer any questions until Monday.  The leg work is tons of squats, lunges & deadlifts.  The upper body is pull-ups, chin-ups, neutral grip pull-ups, rows of just about every kind, & overhead presses. There is no mention of cardio.

It’s going to be fun!

LOVE the free pass idea on all the gyms. Cleanliness is always the clincher for me.

Be forewarned the first couple of weeks the suggested exercises are basically warm-ups (not the actual rotation, just getting you ready for it). It may be difficult to comply. :)

Don't do Planet Fitness. They claim they are the no judgment zone but trust me, they are -- in reverse. Have heard horrendous tales.

On the gym front, maybe you should look for one of those hard core hole-in-the-wall places where the big guys train?? I'm sure there must be at least one place like that around you.

Thanks everyone!

Sandi--I would love to win the money but I'll be honest...the fact that they've turned this program into a contest almost cheapens it for me.

I don't think you should let it cheapen the experience for you. Beachbody does it with their products also; it's just a marketing thing to drive membership and I suppose for some people might be the motivation they need to push them over the edge.

I hope you love it!

It was a contest when I did it too, but the prize money was a lot less. $10K, I think. Not that I would sneeze at 10K. In fact, it would come in really handy right now. LOL
