This sucks!

I woke up this morning in SERIOUS pain.  While lying down, if I use my legs to turn over my traps SCREAM so loudly it makes me nauseous.  If I use my arms to push up, the same thing.  Once I’m up & out of bed I’m pretty much okay.  I have a stiffness but not the pain.  While driving I keep my hands at 10 & 2, I get more pain but not the screaming kind.  With this I have a low grade headache that gets a little worse with some movements (not all but turning of my neck to certain angles).

I’ve taken some prescription strength naprosyn.  We’ll see if it helps at all.

Needless to say I did not go to the gym this morning.  I didn’t think it would be a good idea to lift anything today.

I’m frustrated as hell because I’m making gains in strength & body comp.  The scale is down about ½ lb so far this week & I don’t want to lose that.  I want this pretty badly at this point.  I’m a bitch & want to prove that it can be done at any gym.  I am not looking for a setback & this is feeling like it might be one.  It hurts; physically & emotionally.

From the emotional point, I know this means I MUST be on top of my gain with my nutrition.  I cannot let it slip at all.  I am ready for that.  I’ve got it under control.  On the positive side of that I have my meals planned out for the weekend.  I know what I’m eating.  I’m going to drink lots & lots of water.  I am not going to gain any weight back this weekend.

I’ve got it under control – I hope.

Do you think it's in the muscle or the bones? Do you believe in chiro? I can't remember.... I have to have my neck set about every 4-6 weeks, or I can't turn my head, and I get a shooting pain thru my traps. Not to mention my hips, that go out too. It takes a village to keep me up and running, lol.

You should probably see a doctor, don't you think?

Feel better!

It's definitely muscular. I don’t do chiro—did it once & ended up in worse shape than before; one bad experience is all I want to risk.

I did talk to a physician assistant this afternoon (we have 3 in our unit). He prescribed naprosyn twice a day & if I don’t feel better by Tuesday I should make an appt. There is a HUGE not right where I have the pain. I probably could use a good massage.

The naprosyn is helping. I’m not 100% but I don’t have any significant pain & I’ve been pretty physical today. Not lifting heavy stuff but I have moved a few rolling chairs (it’s office clean up day). I’m just not going to be doing anything as strenuous as my usual workout for a day or two.

Have you tried foam rolling that knot? Feel better. Pain sucks. On a positive note, "kudos" for pre-planning your meals and your commitment to staying on your diet.

Kim is right about the foam roller. Another thing you can use for self-massage is a tennis ball. That might actually work even better than the roller depending on where the knot is. There are also massage stick and rollerball thingys that work pretty well although to get your traps you'll probably need to ask John to assist.

Anyway, I hope it loosens up soon! Is there a sports medicine clinic or physiotherapy place near you that offers massage? That might be your best bet for getting some relief. Most spa-type massages seem to be more for relaxation than real therapeutic benefits although of course there are exceptions.

I think you're sick and/or fighting off something and don't know it, and that you need a rest day or two.

That's how my body feels when I'm getting sick or trying NOT to get sick, and most of the time I don't realize it.

Did you check your temp?

Hope you are feeling better now.
