doing better & a 31 day challenge

My traps doing better but I do continue to take naprosyn. I'm going to take your suggestions to try to use a tennis ball/stick/foam roller to my shoulder. Other than this stupid stabbing pain in my traps when I lay down I feel great. I'm one of those odd-balls that doesn't run a temperature; even with strep throat. When I was a kid I would end up with all kinds of bacterial crap that made my mother nuts because I never ran a temperature. I had Scarlet Fever when I was 6; my body temp never got above 98.9. The only reason my parents knew that I was sick was due to the rash that I sported & the lethargy I experienced.

Anyway, I did take another day off from any "real" exercise yesterday. I did about 10 pull ups as I walked in & out of my laundry room. I was able to do about 5 of them from a straight arm position! I also got in some functional exercise helping Erin & Greg load his truck with some of the remaining furniture--about 20 minutes.

John & I have entered a really cool place in our lives. We're starting to settle into a routine with the house & each other now that the kids are gone. I'm more content than I have ever been. This is a dangerous place to be--I want to eat all the time. Not because I'm hungry but because I love to eat when I'm happy. UGH!

I've started doing my own version of Fly Lady & cleaning 1 corner or doing 1 load of laundry a day. I've been keeping things picked up & have my gym stuff laid out for the week. My meals are in the refrigerator sorted by low/medium/high days. By the weekend (at least this weekend) we're ready to relax most of the time.

We're starting to come up with a 5 year plan. It begins with the 1 year plan to move to Delaware if John doesn't have a job closer to home by then--which probably won't happen as he is not looking right now. The market is bad & he hasn't even gotten a nibble. The plan will be for us to move so that he won't be driving 2 1/2 hours to work. I'll have a longer commute but the point is to even it out a little.

While living in Delaware we will be apartment dwellers. The rent will be considerably less than our mortgage so we will put the difference into a high yield (is there really any such thing anymore?) savings. Roxi will go live with Erin -- she is Erin's dog really. Romeo will live with us. He'll become a walked dog.

In 5 years we will be closing up shop & moving to Florida. We haven't decided where yet but will be taking vacations there over the next few years to get an idea of where we want to be--Gulf Coast or Atlantic. We know we want to be close to the beach & have a pool.

This will move us away from the future grandchildren but that's what Southwest Airlines is for. lol

Last night we watched Julie & Julia or is it Julia & Julie. Whatever. Cute movie. I was disappointed that Julie never got to meet Julia. That is what inspired my challenge...

I am going to do that silly 100 squats a day thing that someone posted on facebook but I'm also giving myself a challenge to keep it on program for 31 days. I have my meals planned & am ready to hit the ground running on Monday. I am going to allow myself an reward on Saturdays. In addition to the squat thing I am going to try for 150 chin ups. I want to get to a point where I can do them without thought--okay they will always require thought but you know what I mean.

I'm going to blog about my journey. I'm going to take pictures tomorrow or Monday & then take a picture at the end. I need to do that anyway but these will show how my effort paid off & give me something to show you all so that you can tell me what I need to work on for the competition.

Wish me luck!

I love how dedicated you are! I think you are doing great and I am looking forward to following along on the journey. ((hugs))

I also love the five-year plan, although do you think Romeo will be able to part from Roxi? I very nearly gave Jack away last month (I love him but he is a DEVIL and so NEEDY and no one pays attention to him but me) and the two of them got very weird about the whole thing. And I don't even think Leo likes Jack that much. LOL

And I vote for the Gulf Coast! I work with a bunch of people who spend a lot of time in Florida and they all say, if you are looking for relaxation and natural beauty and generally a more relaxed lifestyle, the Gulf side is it. But, of course, you should try out everywhere just to see. :)

I like the idea of your plan. It's good to be focused like that, and have an idea of what's next on your program. It'll be a whole different thing for you to live in an apartment! Easier and harder at the same time, I'm guessing.

It's fun to have a specific sort of plan/challenge/etc. going on, isn't it?

Glad the traps are feeling better. Ruins your whole day when your neck is messed up.
