I don't know what I was thinking bringing a new puppy home. We didn't sleep well. But he's SOOOOO dang cute!
I said I wouldn't run if it was raining....I ran. We got to the start about 10 minutes before the start. Leanne had to pee. ARE YOU KIDDING ME YOU DRANK HOW MUCH WATER ON THE WAY??? Yep, 2-16.9 oz bottles. She's too silly for words.
I slipped on the grass walking up a hill to the port-a-potty. My knee tweaked a little but I thought I'd be fine.
We were running to fast at the start. I could feel it but couldn't find my happy pace & kept going. At mile 1 I sent John packing.
At mile 3 I let Leanne loose. She tried to stay back but she is taller & therefore faster than I. I waived her on.
My knee wasn't happy for a little while & I walked on & off during mile 3 to 4. I got back at it for a few miles. I ran again until mile 7. I walked & ran until 8 & then finished strong. I ran with a black guy for a while who encouraged me to finish. He looked like a homeless guy. We have a mission here that teaches them to run so I seriously wouldn't be surprised. He encouraged me to keep going.
Close to the finish I caught up with 2 older women--probably in their 60s. One was running ahead & the one lagging behind said she was going to walk across the line. Her friend tried to encourage her not to quit. I turned to her & told her to keep going. She started to speed up. I told her to slow down--keep her pace. As we crossed the line she thanked me for encouraging her.
Leanne & John were there when I came across the line.
I am sure that my lack of sleep did me in. I never do well without sleep.
Romeo is a great puppy! He's only had 1 accident in the house. That was at 4 AM when I got up, took him out, he peed once & I brought him in. I let him run around. Oops. BUT he did go by the door. That could be coincidence or it could be that he's learning. I choose to believe he's learning. He didn't pee in the crate in 6 hours. What a good boy!
I've considered reconsidering his name but I like calling him, "my little Romeo." I can't wait until he's 60 lbs & I'm still calling him, "my little Romeo." LOL
