I hit the wall tonight. I didn't even want to finish the workout but I did. I had to reduce my weights. Oh & I even had to have John spot me on my weenie 45 lb chest presses. I did 60 lbs last week. What the heck???
Here's what I did:
BB bench press: 60/55/45
Incline flyes: 15 down from 20
BB curls: 35/35/30
Dips: complete with legs REALLY close to the chair
DB curls: 10 lbs (down from 15 last week)
BB skull crushers: 30 down from 35
Oh well. Tomorrow's another day.

It's either hormones or the new diet, I almost guarantee it. We're weakest the week before our periods, and our joints are at their most lax then. It's smart to go light because that's when we're at greatest risk of injury.
If you're at a midpoint in your cycle it may be the new diet. If yesterday or today was a low-calorie day, or if it was supposed to be a high calorie day but for some reason you didn't get all your meals in, that'd explain why you bonked.
Anyhoo, it sucks when it happens, but you did the right thing, which was to soldier on using the weights that were appropriate for the day you're in.
Exactly what Laura said. You will adjust. :)
Also, it's REALLYREALLYREALLY hard to improve strength when you're seriously devoted to losing fat. You sort of have to choose which is more important. During our Biggest Loser competition a couple guys had a really hard time with the strength they lost while losing weight. It all came back eventually but for a while it was mentally tough on them. The important thing is that you remain consistent.
Also, related, S doesn't want to diet down for a bodybuilding show because the last time he tried to he went way down on all his lifts. So, you're normal. Doesn't that suck? :)
But DO let me know if you're ravenously hungry at nighttime, k?
