Omega 3s

Anyone take a supplement? What works? What doesn't?

Dr. Brooks talked to me about my cholesterol & recommended I take a supplement. And she recommended I read The Metabolic Diet just as a "you can never have too much knowledge" kind of thing. She asked me more details about what I'm doing with Wendy--the diet plan, the exercise plan. She liked what she saw & wants me to keep doing what I'm doing with Wendy. She likes that I'm working with someone that is experienced in fitness.

I love this doctor for that!

ETA: I posted on Laura's blog that I wasn't understanding Tabata. At lunch today I did some research & found that I do understand it just fine.

For my workout tonight I started Kettlebell Goddess the Odyne workout. It just wasn't doing it for me so I quit half-way through. I decided to jump on my bike & give it a shot...I managed to plug through all 7 intervals!!! It was very cool & very painful! My legs & lungs burned like they were on fire.

I want to try this next week...Tabata Squats!!! The embedding was disabled so I had to give you a link. How much fun does that look? In a my legs are going to fall off kind of way.

John got on the bike & gave it a shot....TWO, COUNT 'EM, TWO intervals was all he managed!!! I've always envied his cardio fitness. Today I showed him who was Goddess!

My plan to eat real meals didn't go quite as I had hoped. With patients in & out of my office I just couldn't do it. I would start to eat & get interrupted. So I ended up grazing all day again. Do you think that matters so long as I'm getting everything in?

I brought some FAGE yogurt with frozen peaches. My tastebuds were actually pleasantly surprised. I expected to dislike it but found that the consistency is quite pleasant & the taste isn't awful. Go figure.

I take fish oil when I'm good about taking my supplements, but mostly I try to eat my omega 3s in the form of salmon, except sometimes I am so fucking sick and tired of salmon I can't take it, LOL!

Your doctor sounds unusually smart about nutrition for a doctor! LOLOLOL!!!!!

Great job on trying the tabata. It sucks, doesn't it? But it also is awesome.

I take omega 3's and cod liver oil. You just want to make sure you get a good brand that filters out any contaminants. For me, they are essential. I can seriously feel the difference immediately in how my brain functions. I am much clearer, sharper and more focused when I am taking them. Plus they will make your skin pretty.

Wendy, I used to love salmon and I think I burned myself out on it too.

I am one of the minority members of the population who can't stomach salmon (or most seafood, really), so when I think about it, I take fish oil caplets.

BTW, do you mind if I link my new blog to this blog? It's fine if you say no. :-)
