Break in the weather

The weather is much cooler today but we're still without AC. The guy is supposed to come today.

As a side note--my guy is no where near as pretty as any of Marie's guys.

Physical therapy is HARD!!! I didn't realize that it was going to hurt. Okay, hurt isn't quite the right word. It is very uncomfortable. I've tried to find pictures of the exercises I'm doing but couldn't find them.

I'm doing what I call wall crawls--facing forward I walk my fingers up the wall until I fell a stretch . Hold for 5 & lower. I do that facing sideways too. I do those 10 times 2 or 3 times a day. It doesn't hurt to "walk" up the wall but coming down is harder than I thought it would be. My arm feels SO heavy. I'm also supposed to take a dowel in my left hand, hold it in front of me, & push it up with my right hand. Again, hold for 5 & lower. Also, 10 reps, 2 or 3 times a day.

I have yet to make it through an entire circuit. Last night my arm was so sore I thought I would need a percocet but a hot fudge sundae worked. :)

On a fun note, I have started "swimming" laps around my pool. I have a round float that I put my head & shoulders through. I hold the tube & kick my feet. My pool is 27' across. The circumference is 84.82'. I did it 4 times last night. It probably took less than 5 minutes but wore me out! John got laughing at me & told me that I had stirred the water in one direction & had to unwind it. When I tried to swim against the water jet (the spout that puts water back in the pool from the filter) I found that I really had to fight. It was really tough! I finally kicked hard enough to break free. It was fun.

Marie, I challenge you to try it!!!

Today begins my road to recovery. I'm going to get my diet back on track. I've been thinking about Wendy's blog & had a light bulb moment. She eats well most of the time but still manages to eat junk food occasionally. I need to practice moderation.

ETA: It looks like we might be getting a new heating/cooling system. Sigh. The circuit board is shot & cost about $1000 to replace. The unit is 15-16 years old; it was about 5 years old when we bought the house & that was 11 years ago. We could place the circuit board but might end up having to replace the heat exchanger in a year or less.

The unit we have is so poorly wired it actually is a hazard anyway. We've had Mike (our guy) over to fix things a couple of times to have him ask, "who the hell did this?" Then when we had the addition put on last year, the HVAC guy that our contractor used asked the same question. So...this might be a blessing in disguise.

I'm grateful that we've got some savings & that our budget has A LOT of play in it. But, still, this sucks.

Deb, how weird, just yesterday I had a DUH moment and thought I could very easily do interval training in the pool, too. Ours is oval and I think 15 by 30 or something, so I could really do "laps," I guess. My bigger issue is when I'm in the pool, Leo wants to be in, too. Maybe I will put him in a raft and pull him behind me.

Sorry about the A/C unit. It does sound like it makes more sense to replace. (On the plus side, you'll probably get significantly better air flow.)
