19 March

I just finished my last weight workout for the week. I have one more week on this program & am starting to fear what Wendy is going to throw at me next month. Only one more week on this plan that I've come to love/hate.

DB deadlifts from the floor: 25 lbs
Farmers walks: 35 lbs for 40 steps each leg
Romanian deadlifts: 55 lbs
Leg curls: 30(3)/35(2)

Abs:
v-ups 12 reps
oblique twists 12 reps each side
reverse crunches with legs raised 12 reps
Russian twists with 6 lb medicine ball 12 res each side

I want to do heavier farmers walks but my shoulder feels like my arm is going to rip out of the socket when I hold anything heavier than 35 lbs. It doesn't hurt otherwise but too much weight really pulls. Funny thing though, I can hang from my chin-up bar & it doesn't hurt the same. I don't know. Whatever.

I need to call Wendy & ask her about these because seriously--I feel nothing other than the pull in my shoulders. I just never remember to call her during the day...work is really busy right now.

That's exactly where you should be feeling it, Deb. Farmer's walks are an assistance exercise that are meant to strengthen the muscles you use to stabilize your shoulders. Once you get those good and strong you'll find it much easier to maintain proper alignment during exercises such as dumbbell lunges, step-ups, squats--basically any exercise where you're holding heavy weights at your sides instead of on your shoulders.

See! Laura is so smart. (big duh there!!!) That is one of the reasons you are doing them. They're so functional!

This is very interesting. What is the elbow equivalent? Is there one?
