Marie--next time you're in the Philly/Moorestown area, let me know. I'll cook something up for you!
I did not do HIIT tonight. I didn't realize how leg intensive FLIB is; deadlifts, Romanian split squats, AND Romanian deadlifts. Despite my earlier statement that I was going to go light I only went "lighter." I'll post my stats in a bit but first...
I came upstairs to grab my lap top, my shake, & head off to bed to watch the last 2 episodes of Brothers & Sisters when my cell phone rang. Mom. Again. For the FIFTH; yes, 5th, time in 2 days. She is making me nuts calling all the time again. But tonights call was of the UTMOST importance. Really.
About 3 weeks ago, my 17 yo nephew, Nicholas, was admitted to drug rehab. I'm not sure what the drugs are that he's using but he's there. The admission process includes all kinds of indepth tests. There is definitely a problem.
Saturday is family day. My mother wanted us to go but I told her I wanted to know from Karen (my XSIL) if it would be too much for Nicholas because he's having a really hard time adjusting. He's been begging to come home.
Tonight Nicholas called my mother & he asked unprompted if I would be coming to see him on Saturday. Dammit. I love this kid but he's so much like my brother that I have a really hard time relating to him (I don't have a relationship with my brother at all--bet you didn't even know I have a brother).
I really do love Nicholas. He's in deep trouble. He's an "at risk teen." He's always been very smart--I remember one summer when he was about 12 we were on the beach he turned and asked me this really DEEP question about how something worked. It was so out of left field that I literally turned to him & asked how he thought up these questions. I told him that I didn't know the answer to his question but was so impressed by how smart his question was.
My XSIL is a nut job. She's been married 3 times & lived with one other man. Nicholas & Shannon (her 19 yo from her first marriage--the niece I take with me on vacation) are always been verbally beat up. My brother moved to Kansas City (hi Tracey) to be with his still-current live in girl-friend whose job relocated there when Nicholas was 13. When DB (douche bag) moved out there he told Nicholas he would come home every month. He hasn't been home in over a year & that's his typical MO.
He asked if someone would bake him yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting. I'm going to ask Erin to do that for him--she loves to bake.
I love my boy. I wish I could hold him close.
So anyway here's how the workout went down...
3 sets of 15 each
Deadlifts: 1 set @ 55 lbs, 2 sets @ 50 lbs
DB Incline bench-press 1 set @ 12, 2 sets @ 15
Bulgarian split-squat: 12/10/8 (ouchie)
Mixed-grip lat pull-down: 1 set @ 55, 2 sets @ 50
Romanian deadlift: 3 sets @ 45 lbs
Swiss-ball lateral roll: done
Now question: do you think the swiss-ball makes any difference? I never feel ANYTHING when I use this damned thing & feel I get more bang for my buck just doing crunches, oblique twists, using the medicine ball, whatever. I know I'm probably not doing something right with the ball but I don't have anyone here to correct my form (I've watched tons of videos). Am I okay just mixing up some sort of ab work on the floor?

((Deb)) I'm so sorry. FWIW, if he doesn't want visitors, it's probably best to stay away for now. Send him candy - recovering addicts love sugar.
