Potential for less stress in my future

Don't know why I didn't post this from the library. It would have been so much easier.

Last month I applied for two jobs on McGuire. One has a lot of growth potential; the other the potential for less stress but at the same pay grade I currently hold. I went to the library this evening and was able to view my application status. No action has been taken on the growth potential job BUT my resume has been sent forward on the potentially less stress job.

I'm excited and concerned.

Conceren because: The growth potential job comes with a guaranteed promotion every year for two years bringing me to a GS11--making $65k in the first year as an 11. I am interested in the career field because it is one that would allow me to go anywhere in the world.

Excited because: The less stress job would get me out of my current job; excluding me from being eligible for the growth potential job for 1 year (it is expected that this field is going to grow exponentially), but would allow me to work with less stress for the same money I cuurently make.

What I do know is that I have been very unhappy in my current job for a long time now. Promises have been made and not kept for far too long by far too many people. In this economy I want to stay within the federal employment system but it's time to move on.

There is no guarantee that I will get either job but my resume has moved forward. That's the first step.

First steps are good! I am sure that you are going to rock whichever comes along. I have so much faith in you.

Here is what I have learned about careers. Everything happens for a reason. Whatever works out will work out for you because that's what should work out for you.

Gosh, I'm all zen today. But excited for you!!

No matter how this works out, I think a change would do you good! You have been so frustrated for so long, it'll be good for you to have some sort of movement. Yeah more $$$ is good but it also comes with a price, right?

:D
